CLASSICAL BALLET SCHOOL NDA

Nacho Duato Academy incorporates the Professional Conservatoire of Ballet into its educational offer. The elementary and professional teaching is based on the excellent working method of the honorary teacher Carmen Roche and her very high demanding level. It offers official (state-recognised) and private professional dance education, open to all audiences and is divided into two itineraries: Classical Ballet and Spanish dance studies.

A renowned Spanish dancer, Aída Gómez has been recently named the director of the Spanish dance department .

ACADEMY FOR ELEMENTARY AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The school offers an official curriculum in dance recognised by the Community of Madrid, which covers from the elementary to the professional level, where students begin at the age of 8 and complete their studies at the age of 17. The academy is recognised as one of Spain’s most prestigious dance centres.

The educational curriculum consists of four years of elementary education, and six years of professional dance education divided into two itineraries: Classical Ballet and Spanish Dance. In collaboration with Nacho Duato Trainee Program, the last year of the professional formation has been converted into a pre-professional trainee program for exceptionally talented students aged 14-17.

PRE-PROFESIONAL TRAINEE PROGRAM

The pre-professional trainee The pre-professional trainee program is designed to prepare exceptionally talented students for their entry at the Nacho Duato Trainee Program. The program is strongly focused on Classical Ballet which includes Pointe work and Men’s technique and merges with the official curriculum offered by Carmen Roche’s Academy as a part of the official degree. Throughout the day, pre-trainee students will work with guest teachers and have a chance to attend some of the classes given to the NDTP students. Saturdays classes are mandatory as well as participation in all the workshops held during the year in order to complement the versatile repertoire of our students. Dance History, History of Arts, and Music complete the program by motivating students to engage in a personal search for versatility and interconnectedness in the arts. Concerts, exhibitions, and different workshops will be organised for students in their free time, adding to the versatility of dance education.

PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS

All teachers are former professional dancers. Through their personal experience and teaching, students can experiment with the style and method created by Carmen Roche and her very high standards. We aim to prepare students to meet the demands of professional life and the physical and emotional challenges of a dance career.

REGULATED EDUCATION 

Elementary Education in DANCE is regulated by Decree 8/2014 of 30 January by the Community of Madrid. The education is focused on Classical Ballet and Spanish Dance studies that create a firm ground for the subsequent choice of speciality in professional education. This entry-level training for children passionate about dance is the perfect complement for comprehensive education through fomenting discipline, values, respect, artistic sensitivity, postural education and non-verbal communication amongst others.

Professional Education in Dance is part of the official Artistic Education, regulated by the LOE (Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May, BOE of 4 May). This official degree of Dance (specializations are divided into 3 categories: Classical Ballet, Contemporary Ballet or Spanish dance) is aimed at people who have an interest in becoming professionals in this field and need to be provided with an official degree.

DURATION

Elementary education has a duration of four years. Professional education lasts 6 years and it provides integral training for the dancer in the following two specialities: Classical Dance and  Spanish Dance.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Physical aptitudes, expressive abilities and musical sense will be evaluated at the audition held in June. Aimed at students of 12 years and over who have passed their elementary education in dance. The ENTRY REQUIREMENTS established by the Ministry of Education are differentiated into two groups: 1) entry to the first year of professional studies and 2) access to all other courses.

AFTERNOON SCHEDULE

The Carmen Roche Academy is the ONLY academy in Madrid that offers Professional Education in Dance in the afternoon, thus facilitating the continuity of the student’s official studies of ESO and BACCALAUREATE. This way, students can continue with their official studies at their chosen school/academy.

QUALIFICATION

After accomplishing professional studies, students will receive a Degree in Professional Dance Education, valid throughout Spain and Europe.

UNIFORMS

Students at the Academy are required to wear uniforms that can be purchased at maty, C/Maestro Victoria 2, Madrid. Class 1 and 2, leotard on the picture 1. Class 3 and 4, leotard picture 2. Class 5 and 6, needs to be ordered directly from the store.
